We are tackling plastic waste

Every year, in the UK alone, period products generate 200,000 tonnes of waste, a lot of which comes from single-use plastic found in conventional period care.

Studies have found that conventional pads can contain up to 90% plastic and plastic tampon applicators can take up to 500 years to break down.

We’re tackling plastic waste and pollution with our range of 100% organic cotton and reusable period care. Every TOTM products comes with the promise of quality, comfort and sustainability.

The lowdown on organic cotton

Our tampons, pads and liners are made with 100% organic cotton that’s responsibly sourced and meets ethical standards.

After extensive research, we chose organic cotton as it’s not only sustainable, but also naturally soft, absorbent, and breathable. This makes it ideal to use in period care.

Our period care uses 100% organic cotton and is made without fragrance, dyes, artificial absorbents (SAP), chlorine bleach and PFAs (tested in 2023).

We are removing ocean plastic.

Did you know that every year an estimated 1.5 to 2 billion period care items are flushed down Britain’s toilets? The majority of which ends up as ocean plastic pollution.

For every TOTM cardboard applicator tampon sold, we recover the equivalent weight of plastic from the ocean.

We have recovered the equivalent of

the same as approx 70 grand pianos.

We work with Plastic Bank® for this initiative. Plastic Bank® empowers the regenerative society and tackles ocean plastic while improving the lives of the collector community. Collectors receive a premium for the materials they collect which helps them provide basic family necessities such as groceries, cooking fuel, school tuition, and health insurance.

We are carbon neutral.

We’re on a mission to make big, positive changes in the world whilst leaving the smallest possible footprint along the way.

We offset 100 percent of our business activity emissions and emissions from our organic cotton range through carbon offset projects.

ClimatePartner supports us in calculating, reducing, and offsetting our carbon emissions. The entire process is verifiable with our certification and “climate neutral” label’.

Our Period Positive Workplace Scheme

Our periods at work survey discovered that over 70% of our community had been caught short by their period in the workplace.

We set up this scheme to bust taboos and drive period positive change in workplaces everywhere. Through this scheme, we’re making organic cotton period care products available to anyone who needs them in workplaces and universities across the UK.

The team behind TOTM

Inspired by both of their daughters, Kate & Saint founded TOTM with the desire to build a purpose-led brand that offers better, sustainable ways to manage periods.

Our HQ is in Cardiff, South Wales where you’ll find most of our team but we’re proud to have a remote team working across the UK. We’ve created a period positive work environment with menstrual leave, menstruation and menopause policies, and free period care (of course!).
