Looking to achieve a natural glowing look for your wedding day? We spoke to award-winning green beauty blogger Ana Goes Green to get her top green and natural beauty tips.
Your wedding day can be one of the most anticipated events. Most people spend months planning and you want to make fabulous memories that will last the rest of your life, including the photos. I truly believe in the benefits of natural and organic ingredients and a holistic routine for your skin.
Here are some of my top tips for getting a natural glow for your special day:
Skin preparation
Great skin is a real confidence booster, especially when all eyes are on you for the big day. If you don’t already see a skincare professional regularly now is the perfect time to seek professional advice.
There are lots of great professionals and spas offering natural, organic and holistic treatments, quite simply because botanical skincare really works. Do some research to find someone who can not only help you with treatments but also recommend a great home care routine, as consistency is key for great skin. I recommend investing in a gorgeous botanical-based facial oil to really plump and nourish the skin.
Test your treatments
In the run up to a big event, it can be tempting to try lots of different treatments, a whole new skincare routine, a different hairstyle and perhaps a bit of fake tan… The list can be long.
My advice is to go slow and give yourself time if you are seeing a skincare professional then they can help guide you through using new products. If you are making changes yourself you want to ensure you patch test each new product and then stick to a routine that works for the last couple of the months before the wedding. The last thing you want a bad reaction that you don’t have time to fix! Be gentle with yourself and your skin will thank you for it. More isn’t always better.
Find time for you
The logistics of planning a wedding can be very stressful, so scheduling time to relax in the run to the big day will really help. Whether it’s a regular Yoga lesson, swim in the pool or an indulgent face mask, the more you manage that stress the more your skin will glow.
Roald Dahl once said: “If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely” and it’s so true. Although boring getting enough hydration and a good diet will also go a long way to helping you through the planning stages.
You can go natural with your makeup too!
Natural beauty isn’t restricted to skincare, there are now more and more beautiful makeup ranges emerging that can help you feel gorgeous without having to compromise on ingredients and ethics.
If you are hiring a makeup artist, it is worth finding one who understands and uses natural ranges. It is much more common to have natural options in a makeup kit these days as they are more in demand. If you are doing your own makeup getting plenty of practice in before the big day is helpful. Natural make-up doesn’t have a lot of the synthetic ingredients in it that improve longevity, but with a few clever application techniques, you can dramatically improve the wear of the products. Using a great setting powder that photographs well and layering using a lip pencil before your lipstick are two of my favourite tips. Make sure you have a small clutch with some essentials on hand for touch ups too, that way you can ensure you look flawless before the photos.
