A recent study found that half of 24 tampon brands tested contained plastics in direct contact with the vaginal wall, with some shedding an average of 9.4 billion nanoplastic fibres per tampon during use. Why organic cotton? Most mainstream period products are made with rayon, bamboo or conventional cotton. The catch? Conventional cotton farming relies on fossil-fuel-based fertilisers. Organic cotton skips them.

Do your products contain any pesticide residue like glyphosate?
No!
A recent study by the Women’s Environmental Network (WEN) and Pesticide Action Network UK found pesticide residues, including glyphosate, in some conventional tampon brands sold by UK retailers.

Do your non-app tampons have a plastic wrapper?
Good news! Our non-applicator tampons come in paper wrappers instead of plastic. We were the first UK period care brand to make this eco-friendly switch, wrapping our non-apps in paper to help protect the planet.
Do your tampons contain rayon?
No, our tampons do not contain any rayon. We’re proud to use certified organic cotton.
Do your tampons contain heavy metals?
Our tampons are certified to the Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS). Independent third-parties vigorously test our entire supply chain before we are submitted as part of a GOTS audit, meaning even the purest of organic cotton fibres undergo testing for heavy metals. GOTS place limit values on safe, low concentrations of these heavy metals and we are pleased to report that TOTM complies with this, and that additional testing of our products showed no detection whatsoever of heavy metals such arsenic, lead, or cadmium.
Safety is important to us at TOTM, that’s why our tampons are produced in a sterilised environment with UV lamps based on ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820 (US FDA) standards.
Are the tampons compostable?
Dispose of used products responsibly. We highlight the material’s compostable nature to show its environmental compatibility, not as a disposal instruction.
How do these tampons compare to other brands?
Our tampons are made with 100% organic cotton, from core to cover, unlike conventional tampons, which often contain non-organic cotton, rayon, plastic, and additives like paraffin, glycerin, PEGs, and titanium dioxide. We also include a protective veil on all our tampons (non-applicator tampons have a double-woven veil for complete coverage) to prevent fibre-shedding and provide extra comfort and safety.
