Do you know the truth about tampons?

Non-organic cotton, plastics and artificial additives have been found in conventional tampons & pads.

What are your tampons & pads made from?

In 2017, we surveyed* a group of 2000 women (aged 18-40) which revealed 9 out of 10 women are not aware of what tampons are made of. This isn’t necessarily surprising. Period care manufacturers are not required to disclose product ingredients.

Your vagina is one of the most absorbent and sensitive parts of your body. We think you deserve to know what you’re using on your period! We are proud to be leading the revolution of modern period care brands providing period-friendly products that have less of an impact on the planet.

The ingredients section

Conventional tampons have been found to contain non-organic cotton and rayon. Non-organic cotton is farmed using toxic pesticides and insecticides (in fact, it’s the most heavily sprayed crop on the planet). More information on organic cotton vs standard cotton can be found here.

Rayon is a manmade material that’s been used since the 1930’s. Produced from cellulose, which is a compound extracted from wood pulp. Wood pulp production is associated with deforestation. The extraction process creates the hydrocarbon dioxin as a by-product.

And it’s not just tampons! Conventional pads have been found to contain around 90% plastic. When heavily used in period care, plastics can trap heat and bacteria which can lead to infection. Not to mention, the impact this amount of plastic has on the environment.

In addition to these core ingredients, both conventional tampons and pads have been found to contain fragrance/perfumes, deodorants, dyes and chlorine bleach.

Be kinder to your vagina

Your vagina has a very delicate pH balance and it’s also highly absorbent. It’s important to understand what you are using on your period!

Artificial irritants can lead to immediate irritation, such as itching, rashing or discomfort. There is also little research to analyse what impact these can have on your health in the long-run.

Our tampons, pads and liners are made with 100% certified organic cotton. They are naturally absorbent and comply with industry standards without the use of perfumes and artificial absorbents.

We are proud to offer disposable period care that is kind to the body and the environment. Get yours today.
